Old Yeller

Project Details: This was an exciting project because there was so much history with this home. It used to be an outhouse on the Patterson Homestead built in the 1800’s. Over the years there were several additions built and many repairs that took place. We were contracted to replace the roof in 2020.

Challenges:  We knew the roof was in bad condition but we did not know the extent until the roof was removed. come to find out there were 5 layers of asphalt shingles on most of the roof and 7 layers on certain parts. Underneath that was the original wood shake shingle. It was a mess. We installed OSB overtop the slatted surface before we installed the new shingle. New flashings around the chimneys and dormers had to be replaced as well since they were completely shot.

We also installed a new rubber roof system at the very peak of the roof to top it off. This job doesn’t look took difficult from the ground but that much debris made it quite the challenge.
